(Update: The 10 Freeway re-opened on the afternoon of Nov. 20. However, the instructions below can be applied any time a major roadway is closed or needs to be avoided.)

A section of the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles was closed indefinitely on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 11, after fire badly damaged an overpass. This article includes recommendations on ways to help ensure your Trimble Maps applications route your vehicles around this closure.

CoPilot navigation

If you are using ActiveTraffic, CoPilot automatically began routing around the closure on Nov. 11, shortly after the road was closed between the 110 Freeway and Alameda Street.

If you want to avoid the 10 Freeway completely, select an alternate route during trip planning in CoPilot's MAP screen.

Tap a white callout box to select an alternate route in CoPilot's MAP screen.

If you do not have ActiveTraffic, but have access to ContentTools, you can create a closure on the sections of the 10 Freeway you want to avoid. The next time CoPilot syncs with ContentTools, the new closure will prevent it from calculating routes that use those closed sections of I-10.

PC*MILER Web

You will automatically be routed around the closure after a Nov. 13 update in our map data. (In the Route card, the data version must be set to Current, the default setting.)

If you want to be sure that real-time traffic data is ALWAYS applied to routes, set the Arrival/Departure time for your trip to Depart Now and select Apply Traffic.

When you select Depart Now and Apply Traffic, PC*MILER searches for current road closures before calculating a route.

PC*MILER Web Services APIs and Maps

You will automatically be routed around the closure after a Nov. 13 update in our map data. (The dataVersion parameter must be set to Current, the default setting.)

If you are licensed for traffic, and want to be sure that real-time data is ALWAYS applied to routes when calling Routing APIs, set the useTraffic parameter to true.

If you do not have a traffic license, but have access to ContentTools, you can create a closure on the sections of the 10 Freeway you want to avoid. The next time PC*MILER syncs with ContentTools, the new closure will prevent it from calculating routes that use those closed sections I-10.

PC*MILER desktop products

If you are licensed for the PC*MILER traffic add-on, you will be routed around the closure if you set the Arrival/Departure time for your trip to Depart Now and Travel Speeds to Real-time Traffic, and the origin of your trip is within 15 minutes of the closure.

When you select Depart now and Real-time Traffic, PC*MILER searches for current road closures before calculating a route.
