Installation File
New installs of DirectRoute are generally made available online via a secure site/folder. Once you've accessed the install file, download the file onto your desktop.
- Open the file and Right Click on Setup.exe and then select Run as Administrator.
- The DirectRoute Setup Wizard dialogue box should appear on the screen.
- Select the Next button to proceed.
- Left Click on the box next to I Accept the terms in the License Agreement and then select the Accept button.
- Repeat the same steps on the next screen to accept the PC*MILER License Agreement.
Enter the requested license information.
- Serial Number – DirectRoute license number.
- User Name – Your full name.
- User Email – Your email address.
- Company Name – The company name under which the license has been issued.
- City, State – Your location.
- Select the Next button to continue.
Note: If you do not know your license number, contact Trimble MAPS Support, support@trimblemaps.com, Phone: (800) 663-0626, Option 6 then Option 7.
- By default, Install a new copy of DirectRoute will be selected; don't change this option unless the Support Team has given you different directions.
- Select the Next button to continue.
- The destination folder location will also prepopulate with the default location; don't change it unless the Support Team has given you other directions.
- Select the Install button to continue.
The installation could take anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes to complete, and will display a message to indicate the installation was successful.
- Uncheck the Launch DirectRoute button and then select the Finish button.
Back on your desktop screen, locate the DirectRoute shortcut icon and click on it to open DirectRoute.
- You will know that the software was installed correctly when DirectRoute opens and the US map displays.

Note: Only the licensed user, who was logged on to the PC when the install was performed, will be able to access DirectRoute.
After installation, ensure you have access and permissions to the correct files/folder locations.
- Open the folder in which DirectRoute is installed (C:\Program Files (x86)\TMW Systems Inc).
- Right Click on the TMW Systems Inc folder, select Properties and then select the Security tab.
- Select All Application Packages and ensure full control is authorized (✔ in the Allow column).
- Select User(s) and ensure full control is authorized (✔ in the Allow column).
User Guide and Help File
Each DirectRoute installation includes the DirectRoute User Guide (PDF) and a searchable DirectRoute Help File.
- To access the Help File in DirectRoute, select Help>Contents from the main menu; the Help File will open in a separate browser screen.
- To access the DirectRoute User Guide (PDF), open the DirectRoute folder on your computer (C:\Program Files (x86)\TMW Systems Inc\Appian\Direct Route), then open the Help folder and locate the User Guide file
- Create a shortcut to the file if you wish; Right Click>Send to>Desktop (create a shortcut).
