Installation Types
DirectRoute can be installed on a single machine (local installation) or in a shared/server environment.
- Only operational routing licenses can be installed on a server but may be installed locally in some cases
- Analyst licenses are single-user, local installs only.
Server Installations
- DirectRoute is installed on a server.
- File paths are predetermined by a server file, set up by support, and is assigned to a login.
- See section on server files for more information.
- Number of user able to access it at a time is limited based on your contract.
Local Installations
- DirectRoute locally on the device.
- Allows one user to access it at a time.
Server File
- When DirectRoute is installed on a server, an encrypted server file is required. It is created and managed by Trimble Maps support.
- User logins created in this file align with the number of purchased DirectRoute users. (See Figure 1 below.)
- The server file controls the folder path of those who login to DirectRoute.
- It can be set up by user, by territory, or by location. This ensures the users are pointed to the correct data folder for routing.
- The folder path can be local, a mapped driver (i.e. F:\) or the UNC path (i.e. //servername/folderpath//)
- The username, password, and folder path to the user's data directory are required when creating a server file.
- The same permissions are set on these mapped folders as if the data were stored locally.
