The Text Tool enables the placement of a text box on the map, similar to a text box on a presentation. It can be used to label territories, areas, or regions. Select and change font, style, size, color, and patterns, and choose borders around the text box.


  1. Click the Text Tool from the toolbar.
  2. In the text dialog box that appears, type the text you want to appear on the map.
  3. Check the box next to Draw Borders to outline the box if desired.
  4. Choose the font type, style, and size.
  5. If you want the size of the text to change with the change in map size (zoom in/out), click Scalable.
  6. Select Fixed Size if you want the size to remain the same regardless of the map position/size.

  8. Click the area of the map where you wish to place the text, then type what you wish to add.
  9. To reposition the text, drag the text box and move it to the desired location.


To clear the text box from the map, select Map > Tools > Clear Drawings from the toolbar and click on the text box you wish to clear.
