Occasionally, you may need to update DirectRoute's serial number manually. This can occur in instances such as the purchase of new licenses, installing other modules that change the functionality of the software, or if you incorrectly keyed in your license key during installation. To do this, you must update it in two locations: updating the correct serial number in the Windows registry, and deleting the existing license file in the DirectRoute folder.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to close DirectRoute before proceeding.

Update the Windows Registry

NOTE: Accessing the Windows Registry requires Administrator rights. If you do not have these or do not feel comfortable editing the Registry, please contact your IT helpdesk.

  1. Click Start (Windows logo button) on the taskbar, and type regedit. When Registry Editor appears in the results, press Enter.

  2. When Registry Editor opens, expand the tree view to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\TMW Systems Inc\Appian (2).

  3. Double-click the DRSerialNumber string value (3).

  4. Update the information in the Value data field with your new serial number, then click OK.

  1. Close Registry Editor.

Update the DirectRoute license file

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\TMW Systems Inc\Appian\Direct Route.

  2. Locate the license file (Appian.LICX) and delete it.

  1. Close all windows and files and restart DirectRoute.

NOTE: By default, DirectRoute installs to the location outlined in step 1 above. If you this is not the case, browse to where your DirectRoute installation is located. If you are unsure, please contact your IT department.
