If you receive an error in DirectRoute, you can submit that information to Trimble Maps support for troubleshooting by locating the error in the Event Viewer application, as well as a log file from DirectRoute.

To locate and report the error, please do the following:

  1. Open an Explorer window by pressing Win+E (Windows/Start key).

  2. Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\TMW Systems Inc\Appian\Direct Route\logs. There should be a file in that folder called Appian.log.

  3. Open a new email, and attach Appian.log to it.

  4. Click Start (Windows logo button) on the taskbar, and type eventvwr. When Event Viewer appears in the results, press Enter.

  5. When the Event Viewer windows opens, expand Windows Logs > Applications in the navigator pane on the left.

  6. In the Actions pane on the right, click Filter Current Log... This opens the Filter Current Log window.

  7. On the Filter tab, check the box next to Error under Event level (a).

  8. In the Event sources dropdown, check the box next to .NET Runtime (b).

  9. Click OK (c). This closes the Filter Current Log window, and returns you to the main Event Viewer window.

  10. In the Application pane, click the most recent log, which should appear at the top of the list.

  11. In the lower pane on the General tab, click the text, press Ctrl+A to select it, then press Ctrl+C to copy to the Clipboard.

  12. Return to your previously-opened email, then press Ctrl+V to paste the previously-copied text into the body of the email.

  13. Return to Event Viewer, and take a screenshot of the Event Viewer window by either pressing PrntScren or using the Windows Snipping Tool.

  14. Return to your email once more, paste the screenshot in, then send it to support@trimblemaps.com.

If you are unable to perform these steps, please contact Trimble Maps support either by sending an email to the address above, or by visiting the Trimble Maps Support portal. When reporting errors, please provide as much detail as possible.
