Appian’s Enterprise apps (DRTrack, Daily Planner, and Resource Calendar) are integrated with the Trimble Smart Workflow app. They are designed to give dispatchers an easy way in their daily workflow to create, manage, and dispatch routes to drivers. The Export to Trimble Smart Workflow functionality is built directly into the dispatch boards of each app for ease of use.
Getting Started with Trimble Smart Workflow
Download the Trimble Smartdelivery app from the Google Play Store.
Grant the app all required permissions (run in background, GPS/location, etc.).
Tap Authenticate, and then sign in with your Trimble ID.
Enabling Smart Workflow in DRTrack
From your DRTrack site, navigate to Admin > Site > Settings & Configuration and check the box for TrimbleSmartWf in the Value column:
NOTE: You cannot enable this option without purchasing a license for Trimble Smart Workflow.
Exporting Routes from DRTrack to Trimble Smart Workflow
To create routes for Smart Workflow, first, build them in DRTrack’s Route Board. Once you have finished building routes, export them to Smart Workflow from the Route Board or Route Calendar, located in the Dispatch menu.
To export to Smart Workflow:
Navigate to Dispatch > Routes:
Assign Drivers and Devices.
Check the boxes next to all routes you wish to export to Trimble Smart Workflow:
When you have selected all the routes you wish to export, click Export > Export To Trimble Smart Workflow:
Using the Smart Workflow app
Trip Selection
After starting Smart Workflow, you will see the Trip Selection screen, where available trips are displayed:
- Tap Start (a) to start the trip.
- Tap the trip to see the stops, orders and other content. In this view, the trip can be visualized in the map.
- If a trip is already Active or Driving, tap Continue (b) at the far right to proceed to odometer screen.
Odometer and Checklist
As part of a new trip, odometer readings are required along with notes of vehicle condition.
Update the odometer reading (b).
Confirm the vehicle's condition with (c), note any issues in (d).
Continue by tapping Next (a).
Current Trip
Shows details about the current active trip.
Tap Navigate (a) to begin navigation with CoPilot.
Button (b) will provide context based on your location. This can be options such as Depart, or Start Loading/Unloading.
Completed stops are listed in the Completed tab (d).
Tap the map icon (c) to view stops on the map.
Arrival Workflow
This workflow is triggered when you arrive at a stop.
Tap each order (c) to drill down into details and view line items.
Go back to the preview screen by tapping the back arrow (d).
Complete the stop by tapping Complete (a).
Skip the stop by tapping Cancel (b).
Proof of Delivery and Stop Completion
Type the receiver's name in field (a).
Tap (b) to capture a signature. Tap twice to make the signature field full-screen.
Customer remarks can be left in field (c).
Tap Next (d) to finalize.
Stop details will be shown. Manually depart by tapping Depart, or navigation will automatically continue when crossing the stop geofence.
Last Terminal
When you return to the terminal, follow the workflow outlined above in Odometer and Checklist.
